From ProgSoc Wiki
When accessing the UTS WiFi network to utilise ProgSoc's systems, we must avoid congesting the network with high-bandwidth activity, not only to keep ITD happy, but also keep our accounts unlocked. Not to mention the UTS network is flaky at times.
By pushing out our own wifi network, we can offload high bandwidth traffic to our own infrastructure and channels, preventing us from loading our parent network (ITD) and hence allowing us to do much more high-bandwidth activity.
This project is in the discussion phase. We still need to design the network, figure out points to put repeaters, purchase hardware, and configure; an enormous task.
