Amendments to the Constitution of the Programmers' Society, 28th March, 2013

Proposed Amendment 1 (Creation of Competitions Officer role)

1) Section 5.1.1. amended to include the role of Competitions Officer.

Full amended text as follows:

5.1 The Executive Committee shall:

5.1.1 Consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer,
Computer Systems Officer, First Year Representative, Alumni
Representative, Competitions Officer.

2) Section 5.5.6 be added, describing the duties of the Competitions Officer. Two alternative versions of the full text follow, to be decided on at the AGM. The essential difference is whether we should lock in the annual UTS Programming Competition or not.

Version 1:

5.5.6 Competitions Officer. The Competitions Officer shall schedule
the UTS Programming Competition to be held annually, schedule other
programming-related competition(s), and ensure an organising committee
is formed for each such competition. The Competitions Officer will
liaise with the University as required in order to conduct said
competitions. The Competitions Officer shall also make efforts to be
aware of external programming-related competitions, advertise the
existence of those competitions to members, and act as a coordinator
for forming teams to enter those competitions.

Version 2:

5.5.6 Competitions Officer: The Competitions Officer shall schedule
programming competition(s) and/or other programming-related
competition(s), and ensure an organising committee is formed for each
such competition. The Competitions Officer will liaise with the
University as required in order to conduct said competitions. The
Competitions Officer shall also make efforts to be aware of external
programming-related competitions, advertise the existence of those
competitions to members, and act as a coordinator for forming teams to
enter those competitions.

POSSIBLE OUTCOMES:

Version 1 passed/Version 2 rejected.
Version 2 passed/Version 1 rejected.
Both rejected.

OUTCOME:

Version 1 PASSED/Version 2 rejected.
