Amendments to the Constitution of the Programmers' Society, 7th April, 2005

Proposed Amendment 1 (Creation of new Executive roles)

Clause 5.1.1:

Consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Computer Systems Officer.

to be replaced with:

Consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Computer Systems Officer, First Year Representative, Alumni Representative.

OUTCOME: Passed.

Proposed Amendment 2 (Key-holder appointments)

Insert Clauses 5.1.4 - 5.1.5

5.1.4 Make up to four Key-Holder Appointments, each of which must be assigned an administrative role as determined by a vote of the Executive.

5.1.5 Review, remove and add Key-Holder Appointments from time to to time, subject to 5.1.4.

OUTCOME: Passed.

Proposed Amendment 3a (Spelling correction, broadening of scope)

Clause 5.3:

No renumeration or other benefit in money or money's worth shall be paid to any member of the Executive Committee except for re-payment of out-of-pocket expenses.

to be replaced with:

No remuneration or other benefit in money or money's worth shall be paid to any member except for re-payment of out-of-pocket expenses.

OUTCOME: Passed.

Proposed Amendment 3b (Eligibility for election)

Clause 5.4.1:

No member may be elected to any position on the Executive Committee who has not paid their subscription for the year in which that office is to be served. No member shall be elected to any position on the Executive Committee without signifying that they are willing to accept their nomination to that position. No member may be elected to the same office or more than two consecutive terms.

to be replaced with:

No member may be elected to any position on the Executive Committee or receive a Key-Holder Appointment who has not paid their subscription for the year in which that office is to be served. No member shall be elected to any position on the Executive Committee or receive a Key-Holder Appointment without signifying that they are willing to accept their nomination to that position. No member may be elected to the same Executive office for more than two consecutive years.

OUTCOME: Rejected

Proposed Amendment 4 (Club room security)

Insert Clause 5.6:

All members holding keys to the Programmers' Society room and any rooms leading to same, shall make all reasonable efforts to maintain the security of those rooms.

OUTCOME: Passed
